Visit Ha Long Bay by helicopter

Ha Long bay is famous for its beautiful caves and limestone karsts attracting thousands of tourists all over the world. There is no better way to see the aerial view of the bay than from a helicopter. Cruising will give you a chance to gaze at the horizon, but the view might not be appealing since there are too many karsts and islands in the bay. At the reasonable cost for a 2 ways trip from Hanoi to Ha Long, visiting Ha Long Bay will be an unforgettable experience.

Helicopter service has been in operation since 2008. You can choose it to be a 1 way or 2 ways trip. The helicopter is model EC-130 B4, which is a light weight versatile helicopter produced by Euro copter company. It can carry up to 7 passengers for tourism purpose, rescue mission, and geological survey. Moreover, the helicopter can be booked for special uses such as wedding and family travel.

As it takes you to Ha Long Bay, the helicopter will hover 300m above water level, making a 30km in diameter close loop flight within the area, covering places like Tuan Chau Island, Dau Go Cave, and so on. When you choose to take the service from Hanoi, the pickup and drop off point is at Gia Lam airport. If you want to just pay for a tour from Ha Long, you will be picked up and dropped off at the Royal Park. For more information, you can check out the company website:

Delay and Cancellation Risk

Since Cessna Grand Caravan 208B-EX is a small craft, its flight depends strongly on the weather condition.
Flights from Hanoi to Ha Long are sometimes delayed or cancelled due to fog in Ha Long Bay. Risks happen quite often during January – March. Hereunder some important remarks and backup proposals when seaplane is delayed or cancelled at last minutes:

  • It is better to book both seaplane ticket and Ha Long overnight cruise package with Vietnam Seaplane Tours because if there is any trouble caused due to bad weather, we will find out the most efficient solution and arrange easier with suppliers.
  • In case of flight delay or cancellation by supplier, we will arrange the tour by car and refund the flight ticket.
  • The tour package is the combination of seaplane and cruise in Ha Long Bay. When the flight is cancelled and you don’t travel to Ha Long by car, you will get the flight refund but not the cruise.
  • Many people connect another flight from Noi Bai Airport to the next destination after coming back by seaplane from Ha Long Bay. If your case, please accept the risk when the seaplane comes later than planned and there is not enough time to check in the next flight.
